Apple introduced context menus in iOS 13 and later to make it easier and quicker for users to interact or make changes to items.
In Todoist, there are context menus for tasks, projects, filters, or labels. Touch and hold an item on your iOS device, and you'll see several quick actions.
Tasks
To see the context menu for a task, make sure you're in a project or view that uses the list layout.
Then, touch and hold the task to open the context menu. You'll see the following options:
- Select Task lets you select either a single task or multiple tasks for editing.
- Schedule opens a schedule window where you can set a due date and time for your task.
- Move to... lets you move your task to another project and/or section.
- Priority lets you set the priority level for your task.
- Duplicate Task creates a duplicate of the selected task.
- Copy Link to Task copies the task’s link to your clipboard.
- Delete Task deletes the selected task.
In shared projects, you'll see the following options:
- Assign lets you assign the task to yourself or a collaborator.
- Complete Forever lets you complete a task and end its recurrence.
Projects
Long press the project you wish to edit to open the context menu. A menu will pop-up with the following options:
- Edit lets you edit your project’s name and color.
- Share lets you add collaborators to your project or remove current collaborators.
- Duplicate lets you create a copy of the project.
- Add to Favorites lets you add the project to your Favorites. If the project’s already added to your Favorites, you’ll see Remove from Favorites instead.
- Archive Project moves the project to your archive.
In shared projects, you'll see the option Leave Project, which lets you leave the shared project.
Filters
Long press the filter you wish to edit to open the context menu. A menu will pop up with the following options:
- Edit Filter opens a window where you can edit the filter’s name and color, as well as its filter query.
- Copy Link to Filter copies the filter's link to your clipboard.
- Add to Favorites lets you add the filter to your Favorites. If the filter's already added to your Favorites, you’ll see Remove from Favorites instead.
- Delete Filter deletes the selected filter.
Quick tip
If you're using a mouse or a trackpad with an iPad running on iPadOS 13.4 or later, you can also open a context menu by right-clicking on a task, project, label or filter.
Labels
Long press the label you wish to edit to open the context menu. You'll find the following options:
- Edit Label opens a window where you can edit your label’s name and color.
- Copy Link to Label copies the label's link to your clipboard.
- Add to Favorites lets you add the label to your Favorites. If the label's already added to your Favorites, you’ll see Remove from Favorites instead.
- Delete Label deletes the selected label.
If you're making changes to a shared label, you'll only see the Edit Label and Delete Label options.
Get help
The context menu may appear even when you just want to drag and reorder a task, project, label, or filter. This is a limitation that may impact all iOS apps that use context menus. As a workaround, touch and hold a task, project, filter, or label. Then, move it slightly to the right to close the context menu.
